Descriptions & Dress Code
Ballet
Ballet is the most highly refined and challenging of all dance forms. It stresses correct alignment, technique development, flexibility, strength and style. Our curriculum, as taught by an experienced faculty, starts developmentally appropriate and introduces students to the structure of class as well as stretching, coordination exercises, musical forms, improvisation and ballet vocabulary. Students follow a structured sequence of training stages designed to increase their technical skills, stamina, and discipline in accordance with their age and physical development. Classes will have spelling and definition tests of ballet terminology.
Levels 1-2 – 60 Minute Classes
Proper ballet terminology is reinforced as the students concentrate on building strength and learning correct body placement.
Levels 3-5 – 90 Minute Classes
Class work continues to focus on building each student’s self-confidence while they learn body strength, coordination and the discipline necessary for learning classical ballet.
Teen Ballet – 60 Minute Classes
Teen Ballet is for the student who wishes to learn ballet technique without the discipline of enforcing the strict dress code or classical ballet music. Ballet fundamentals are taught in a more carefree environment.
Girls: NO LOOSE HAIR OR JEWELRY.
Pink tights and pink ballet slippers are mandatory.Hair must be off the face and in a bun. Those with short hair must wear a headband and/or pin hair back off face.
Levels 1-2:
Black Leotards are preferred, but solid colored leotards are allowed. Leotards should not have any prints or designs.
Levels 3-5:
Black leotards are preferred, but solid colored leotards are allowed.
Teen Ballet:
Tight fitting tops and yoga pants are allowed.
Boys:
White t-shirt and ankle-length socks with black tights are required with white or black ballet shoes. Dance belts are also required and shirts must be tucked in.
BE NEAT AND NO JEWELRY.

Pointe
Regular attendance in ballet technique class is required for this class, and will only be offered to those who have the proper strength and dedication needed to perform this difficult dance style. Students must obtain teacher’s permission to enter a Pointe class.

Jazz
All classes will consist of a warm-up, with stretching and strengthening the muscles. There will be exercises across the floor to work on technique and a combo at the end of class to help develop a creative style.
Levels 1-2 – 60 Minute Classes
This is an introduction to basic jazz positions, turns, and leaps. Students will also learn center progressions as well as proper stretching techniques to enhance strength and flexibility.
Level 3 – 75 Minute Classes
This is an intermediate class designed to augment basic jazz training. It will continue basic skills learned in Jazz 1 & 2, including positions, turns, and leaps as well as elements of dance conditioning. Ballet is strongly recommended to compliment the jazz training.
Levels 4-5 – 90 Minute Classes
Each level is constructed to provide more advanced training as the student develops more technique. The progressions, leaps, and turns will become more advanced, along with the conditioning and combos.
Teen Jazz – 60 Minute Classes
Teen Jazz is for the student who wishes to dance for the joy and fun of dance. Class will consist of basic jazz exercises (warm-up, across the floors, and a combination). This class has a more laid back approach than other the other Jazz classes.
**Levels 3 and up must take at least 1 hour of ballet a week and attend both classes in their level for all sessions except summer.
**Tan jazz shoes are a must for ALL jazz classes. Tights are preferred as they keep muscles warm. No socks or dance paws are allowed in jazz class.

Tap
All classes will consist of a warm-up, progressions across the floor, and a combo.
Levels 1-2 – 45 Minute Classes
This is for the beginning tapper. Basic tap skills are taught.
Level 3/4 – 45 Minute Classes
This is more advanced, and focuses on linking together the basic moves taught in level 1 to create more complicated rhythms.
Teen tap – 45 Minute Classes
Teen Taps is for the student who wishes to dance for the joy and fun of dance. Class will consist of basic Tap exercises. The focus is basic Tap skills and linking them together. This class has a more laid back approach than the other Tap classes.
Each level is focused on teaching more advanced skills and more precise sounds and rhythms.
Tan taps with no heel are recommended as they will be needed for the recital. No jeans or any kind are allowed in class.

Hip Hop – 45 Minute Classes (Mini Class ages 5-7)
High energy class. There will be a quick warm-up followed by a few progressions in the style. This is a funky, trendy style that will continue to change with the times. The focus of the class is the combo which will reflect the style being taught. There will be multiple levels that will become more advanced the higher the level.
Tennis shoes and clothing you can move in is recommended. Please wear shorts under skirts.

Combination Class
Age 3 – 45 Minute Classes
This is a way to introduce both tap and ballet to a beginner student in a way that is fun. The class will be split up into half tap and half ballet. During each style, the student will learn basic fundamentals and skills. Our classes are well structured and disciplined but our approach is caring and we make sure that the children truly enjoy themselves through ballet and tap.
Ages 4-5, 5-6, 6-7, & 5-7 – 60 Minute Classes
This level introduces acro basics and splits the class into 25 minutes of ballet, 20 minutes of tap, and 15 minutes of acro.
Pink ballet shoes and black patent leather tap shoes are required. Black elastic should replace any ties.

Combination Classes – Ages 7 & Up
The class will be split between tap, ballet & jazz. During each style, the student will learn basic fundamentals and skills. Our classes are well structured and disciplined but our approach is caring and we make sure that the children truly enjoy themselves. Once older students decides they want more discipline in a certain style they may choose to take just a ballet class or just a tap class or both. These classes run 90 minutes.
Pink ballet shoes, tan jazz shoes and black patent leather tap shoes are required. Black elastic should replace any ties.

Pre-Ballet – Ages 5-7
This class will work on forming the correct placement of ballet positions as well as basic ballet terminology. This is for the more serious young dancer who prefers more ballet than a Combo class can offer.
Pink ballet shoes and tights are required for this class. Hair should be pulled back.

Pilates Reformer – 55 Minute Sessions
Gentle, yet powerful movement exercises assist you in developing awareness of how and why your body moves. This special technique pinpoints where tension originates and offers the guidelines to restore the balance of flexibility, strength and mobility.
Any comfortable athletic wear.
These are private sessions.

Cardio Ballet – 60 Minute Sessions – Adults
This is an hour packed full of cardio, stretching, and strengthening. There will be a lot of Ballet elements fused with Pilates. This is NOT a ballet class. This is a fast moving, fun, work-out session designed to get you in shape!

Lyrical- 30 Minutes
Characterized by its fluidity, lyrical combines elements of Ballet, Jazz and Modern dance. Lyrical gives students an opportunity to interpret a wide range of expressions and emotions through movement. Level 3 ballet or higher is required.
Leotard, tights, jazz pants, dance paws or jazz shoes.

Musical Theatre
This class features a wide variety of choreography set to songs from various musicals.

Tumbling- 60 Minutes (Mini Tumbling is 45 Minutes ages 5-7)
This class will be offered for ages 3 and up, so there will be various levels and classes. This is the floor work in gymnastics. The class will teach the very basics of tumbling from a forward roll to the more advanced tricks such as back tucks, back twists, back layouts. A class like this focuses on strengthening and stretching of the muscles, as well as agility. As the levels become more advanced, so do the series of tricks.
Tight fitting clothing is recommended.
